S-Trip! Destination: Pacific Mexico, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
EntreAmigos is a unique facility located in Sayulita, roughly an hour from the main Puerto Vallarta strip. A converted milk processing plant, the EntreAmigos Community Centre offers a library, computer lab, classrooms and a sports centre. This incredible space is also host to youth and adult workshops on eco-sustainability, design, and even an entrepreneurship program! Once we came across this dynamic program we knew it would be an incredible place for our travelers to experience.
Our visits to EntreAmigos taught Grad Trip travelers about social entrepreneurship and the huge benefits of an accessible, creative space for both youth and adults. During July 2015, EntreAmigos requested that we renovate one of their larger spaces into a usable multi-purpose sports facility! This project offered various tasks for us - from installing bleachers, cleaning and preparing the floors, adding tape lines and installing netting, there was a lot to do!
Travelers even assisted with assembling some sports equipment like hula hoops and jump ropes. The days concluded with a tour of the beautiful facility and a chance to check out their recycling and resale shop. A few travelers even joined in crafting some toys out of old detergent bottles (see below)!
EntreAmigos is a remarkable space that combines the importance of environmental sustainability with the social well-being of the people from the surrounding community, and we are proud to partner with them. Learn more about this program at www.entreamigos.org.mx.
