We have several levels of Leaders on our trips to make sure that every responsibility is taken care of:

Destination Staff Roles Per Program:

Program Director

What they do
Manage overall execution of the program and Coordinators. Work closely with hotel staff and suppliers to make sure everything is going to plan and running up to our standards. Ensure that all staff and students are safe and having an amazing trip experience.

Requirements
The Program Director role is generally filled by our most senior staff, someone who has years of experience being on destination and is well versed when it comes to the program and it’s requirements.

Completed or pursuing a College or University Degree. Have experience working with youth in a leadership role such as Frosh/Orientation Leader, Residence Advisor, Coaching and Camp Counsellor. Feels comfortable working long hours and evening shifts supervising students on destination. Outgoing, friendly, responsible, and positive. Fluency in French or Spanish is an advantage and past I Love Travel passenger an asset.

Airport Coordinator

What they do
The Airport Coordinator has many roles, but their responsibilities are to ensure each and every traveler feels comfortable at the airport, and directs everyone to where they should be. They will help you get checked in to your flight and through the customs gate at all major airports.

If your group is flying through a major gateway, the airport coordinator will greet the group and either make sure they catch their connecting flight, or if the group has a layover, they will show them to their hotel, and make sure everyone is ready for their next departure flight.

Completed or pursuing a College or University Degree. Have experience working with youth in a leadership role such as Frosh/Orientation Leader, Residence Advisor, Coaching and Camp Counsellor. Feels comfortable working long hours and evening shifts supervising students on destination. Outgoing, friendly, responsible, and positive. Hospital Coordinator

What they do
The Hospital/Clinic Coordinator is responsible for ensuring S-Trip!’s medical procedures and standards are followed exactly. They are in frequent contact with the clinic and closest hospital to ensure a good working relationship. The Hospital/Clinic Coordinator will be the go-to person for any medical issues that may arise on the trip.

Lead Coordinator

What they do
In charge of making sure entire program schedule runs according to plan, including all excursions, activities, events, and volunteer projects. Manage and support Trip Leaders throughout the entire trip to ensure that everything runs smoothly. Responsible for ensuring safety for both travelers and staff throughout trip.

Requirements
Generally our most senior Coordinator steps into the Lead Coordinator role.

Completed or pursuing a College or University Degree. Have experience working with youth in a leadership role such as Frosh/Orientation Leader, Residence Advisor, Coaching and Camp Counsellor. Feels comfortable working long hours and evening shifts supervising students on destination. Outgoing, friendly, responsible, and positive. Staff Coordinator

What they do
In charge of making sure all staff on-site follow strict schedule throughout the entire day. Staff Coordinator will be responsible for creating daily schedule for all staff and will ensure that staff will be present throughout entire resort, on all excursions, at all night events, and during all day activities.

Completed or pursuing a College or University Degree. Have experience working with youth in a leadership role such as Frosh/Orientation Leader, Residence Advisor, Coaching and Camp Counsellor. Feels comfortable working long hours and evening shifts supervising students on destination. Outgoing, friendly, responsible, and positive. Admin Coordinator

What they do
Responsible for all accounting done on-site, and in charge of keeping accurate records of all excursion participants, and all night event package purchases. This information helps form the weekly schedule. The Admin Coordinator along with the Lead Coordinator are the main point of contact with the resort staff, and will be responsible for helping travelers with any rooming issues.

Student Coordinator

What they do
Throughout trip, the Student Coordinator will be located wherever the most amount of travelers are to make sure everyone is having a safe and enjoyable time. They will also be in charge of all student related conduct, included any student discipline that may be required for violations to the S-Trip! Code.

Volunteer Coordinator

What they do
Responsible for coordinating the Volunteer Abroad project throughout entire program, including prepping with community leaders before the trip, educating travelers about impact on community, and a debriefing with community leaders and local NGO’s to ensure project success and to evaluate year round sustainability.

Events Coordinator

What they do
The Events Coordinator is responsible for all day activities and night events throughout the entire trip. They will work with resort animation staff to ensure fun and exciting games and activities throughout the daytime, as well as organizing S-Trip! brand activities like Mr. & Ms. S-Trip!, School Olympics, Staff, vs. Students, etc. They will also work with all venue staff to make sure all night events are safe, secure, and most importantly fun!

Trip Leader

What they do
Responsible for guiding travelers from their point of origin to their destination. Assist with all activities, excursions, and parties while on destination. Provide area information as well as activity briefings for all passenger while ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all passengers on the trip. Ensure students are happy travelers while enjoying their #TripofaLifetime with their Mega Buddies!

Completed or pursuing a College or University Degree. Have experience working with youth in a leadership role such as Frosh/Orientation Leader, Residence Advisor, Coaching and Camp Counsellor. Feels comfortable working long hours and evening shifts supervising students on destination. Outgoing, friendly, responsible, and positive. Emergency Line

During all travel periods there will be a 24/7 emergency line available for parents/guardians to call to get in touch with son or daughter. This will be the quickest way to reach any traveler or staff during trips, as the S-Trip! head office is in constant contact with all senior staff on-site.

Operations Desk

The S-Trip! Operations Desk, located at the head office in Toronto, Canada, will be manned by the entire Operations team during all travel periods. They will be a constant support system to all staff on-site for any needs they may have to ensure S-Trip! program runs as smooth as possible. Daily calls will be held with all senior staff to update head office on Happy Traveler ratings, and to make sure program is running up to S-Trip! standards.

The S-Trip! Help Desk team are available during normal business hours and will be able to assist travelers before, during, and after travel.

Security

At all resorts, our senior staff meet with all security managers, as well as all security personnel hired by the resort and brief them on S-Trip! standards. All security staff need to act in a professional matter, and must contact S-Trip! staff immediately if there are any issues.

For any off-resort events, or activities, we only work with security companies that we have fully reviewed, trust, and that meet our S-Trip! Standards of Excellence.

Paramedic

We work with local Hotel Clinic Staff and ensure there are either on-site paramedics on the resort at all times, or they are nearby in order to respond in a timely fashion in case of medical emergency.

Photographer

A professional photographer will be at your resort to take group Grad Trip photos with you and your whole grad class. They will also be at day activities, night events, and select excursions to capture the moments of Grad Trip. They will also have a secondary role to support all Trip Leaders in any tasks that they have throughout the day.

Excursion Operator

All excursion operators have been evaluated and reviewed in accordance to the S-Trip! Standards of Excellence. S-Trip! staff will support all excursion operators in executing fun and safe off-resort activities for travelers.

Tour Operator

S-Trip! partner tour operators will have staff at the resort during normal business hours, and will play a support role to all S-Trip! staff in assisting arrival and departure times for all travelers, and groups.

Hotel Staff

S-Trip! only uses resorts that meet our Standards of Excellence, and reviews all resort partners after every trip.

From the thousands of applications we receive each year, we choose 350 travel veterans that have backgrounds like teaching, coaching, student leadership, event planning and our own past travelers.

The Screening Process

Only 25% of applicants make it through our full screening process. Our Talent Team evaluates applications year round using our specialized screening process:

  3. Individual in-person interview (Coordinators only)

  5. Trip Leader code of conduct
  6. Background check
  7. Certification test

Trip Leader Placement

We take our time matching Trip Leaders to the right groups of travelers and take the following factors into consideration when building out the teams on each trip.

Personality
All coordinators complete a personality test during our leadership training to identify strengths and weaknesses, helping us create balanced teams.

S-Trip! Travel Experience
Our Trip Leaders become trip experts by staffing in the same destination and developing lasting relationships in the community.

Gender
Every trip aims to have an appropriate ratio of male and female Leaders. The average trip has 65% female Leaders and 35% male Leaders.

Seniority
We make sure there is a balance of returning Leaders and new Leaders on each trip.

Trip Leader Rating
All of our Trip Leaders are evaluated on their on-site performance, which creates an overall rating for them. We place our highest rated Trip Leaders on every trip first.
