Sun, Surf and Safari

Dominican's North Coast

Print

Green rolling hills stretching off to the horizon give a special character to Puerto Plata, the bustling resort town on the northern coast of the Dominican Republic. Puerto Plata gets some of the best waves in the Caribbean, making it a well-known mecca for active sports. Nearby Cabarete – a funky beach town dotted with surf shops, boutique hotels, and cool beach restaurants – is filled with different ways to pump your adrenaline on the waves; with S-Trip!, you’ll get to try your hand at some exciting sports like surfing and kite-surfing!

S-Trip! loves showing off Puerto Plata’s range of exciting activities. A visit to Cabarete is a must-do, where you can swing in a hammock as you watch dozens of world-class kitesurfers perform high-speed tricks dozens of feet in the air. Away from the shore, check out an exciting jeep safari, where you’ll climb through the rolling countryside before chilling out for a few hours at Playa Grande, rated as one of the nicest beaches in the world. A nearby eco-park is another exciting destination, where you can swim through freshwater caves and explore the jungle by zipline with a group of trained guides.

When the sun goes down, S-Trip! will keep you dancing the night away at our private beach concerts. With our friends at MTV, we’re coordinating special guest appearances by local heroes like DJ Mariella and Team Canada DJ’s. Puerto Plata, filled with so many fun excursions, has all the makings for an active Grad Trip!

I spent the day learning to surf with all my friends – it was incredible!
